well that wasn't much of a winter was it?
Posted 30/01/2012
Two thirds of the way through winter and nothing much to talk about! Except of course the mild temperatures and lack of snow...
Proving what we all know - that where weather is concerned, there is always something to talk about....
The end of the year is nearly upon us and still no big dump (of snow) in sight.

We will see some snow this week and it will continue to fall on the mountains but we have been spared the 'big dump' this side of the new year.
In fact the rest of December looks, on the whole to be quite mild with temperatures generally between 6 and -3
Warmest Autumn since records began.

I think this is one we will all agree on, so what's happening?
Even the experts are keeping their heads down and playing it week by week!
Looking more and more like its going to be a typical winter.

Where is Winter?
Posted 04/11/2011
Into November and still no sight of that bad winter. Back to normal then with January and February snow! Or just a blip?
Any ideas????
No early winter then!

Just one week of October left and no sign of that early winter we have been promising, a bit of snow on the hills but nothing to lower levels. Temperatures are still well up and look to continue that way for the rest of the month.
So what can we gather from this?
Answer: The weather really is that fickle at the moment that any long range forecasts should be renamed guesscasts
The October of doom approaches.

Nearly here and all seems to be going to plan, with a nice warm spell before the onslaught of snow, icy conditions and the early winter we are all looking forward to.
Holiday time again.
Posted 29/06/2011
Yes its holiday time in this part of the globe, with the Schools breaking up on Friday for six weeks and I predict that it will be the fastest six weeks of the year.
The weather, however is far less easy to predict (as it is generally these days), it looks set to have a good start with some nice fine warm weather for the first few days, probably just to lull us into a false sense of security, because then things look likely to change back to the unsettled theme that we are getting used to.
And well, that's about it for now, don't cancel the continental holiday and enjoy whatever gets thrown at us, it is holiday time after all.
Remember April? We can always live off that!!!

Weather observations, 30/01/12
Could feel like winter for a while.
Colder this week.
Much colder this week with night temperatures into the minus zone, a few snow showers to low levels as well.
Weather observations, 08/01/12
Not much to talk about.
Another mild week ahead.
Weather observations, 18/12/11
Bit up and down this week.
Could get just about everything.
Some fine spells, some wet spells, some wind, some snow and even some temperatures in double figures.
Cool for the first couple of days with some light snow (Monday) and fresh winds, then warming mid week with a little rain before it gets cool again for next weekend.
Weather observations, 04/12/11
Its December.
Its going to be COLD.
Low temperatures and wind will make this week feel quite cool!
Snow will continue to fall on the hills with a chance of a wee bit to lower levels.
Weather observations, 26/11/11
Almost the end of November.
And still no SNOW.
Ahh, but I do have it in my sights!
Looks like we will end November on a high with a 'Freeze - Thaw' situation.
Thursday for a smidgen of snow.
Weather observations, 20/11/11
The week to come?
Feeling much cooler.
The theme this week is 'feeling cooler' especially at night where we could actually get a couple of frosts in the sheltered spots.
However brisk, mainly S - SW winds will give wind chill temperatures well below zero.
